Easy Vintage Tonal Screen Prints
Today we’re learning how to create an easy vintage tonal print on some Allmade triblend tees for the launch of our new Rogue Lab website. Spoiler alert, they turn out amazing. I’ve been wanting to make this video for a super long time, mainly because I knew how good this graphic would look using this effect but I also wanted to show a simple print technique that anyone can do. It doesn’t matter if you have a single colour starter kit press or a massive six figure auto, everyone can pull this off and get the same look.
This tonal screen printing effect is one of my favourites for a lot of reasons. It’s simple to do, looks amazing and has a barely there feel once it’s laid down on basically any shirt. Another cool thing about this print technique is that it’s completely subjective, meaning you can tweak the ink mixtures to your liking to have more or less of a tonal effect, add in different colours, experiment how it works on different garments…it’s completely up to you.
I hope this helps you guys add a new tool to your printing arsenal and if you end up trying it out I want to see! Tag me in your photos (@leestuart38) so I can check out how you put it to use.
