The Biggest Day In My Screen Printing Career
This was a day I had been anticipating for nearly 2 years! Finally getting to see the final version of my new signature series Riley 250. This all started back in 2021 as I was preparing to buy and move to my new property. My signature EZ Grip squeegee had just launched and was killing it right out of the gate, helping printers all around the world to step up their game and make their jobs easier. I loved the idea of changing the way people work and wanted to do more, so I sat with the Ryonet team and pitched the idea of a press. A press that could be the ultimate setup to take someone from beginner to pro and leave nothing on the table.
So I started planning and came up with the idea to take the tried and true Riley 250, and make all of the improvements necessary to leave the original version in the dust while still being affordable enough for entrepreneurs who are just getting their business started. I chose the 6 color as my base platform because I never recommend anyone getting less than that if they plan on screen printing as a job, and 4 stations for increased productivity. Then the modifications came. The heavy duty bearing registration gate to replace the old nylon bolt system, aluminum platens replacing the old MDF ones, the integrated press cart, the combo of kick down caster wheels and solid leveling feet, the machined aluminum tilt lock knobs, reversing the mounting feet and the deep gloss black powder coat to finish it all off. It was fucking beautiful.
My first time seeing this was a crazy experience and something I’ll never forget. Seeing it go from something in my imagination to a real thing right in front of my eyes was indescribable, especially since I was the first person on earth to see the finished product. All of the thoughts you’d expect were running through my mind at 100mp/h. “Holy shit this is real!”, “are people going to like it?”, “did we do everything right?”, “Holy fucking shit again, this is real!”. It was motivating, emotional, and stressful as hell all at the same time. Even though its out in the world now and has been for a week, I’m getting a little bit of that feeling as I write this because we made history with this! Myself and Ryonet became the first to ever do something like this and that’s something we’ll own forever, and it’s definitely the proudest moment of my career so far.
